This month's artist is Marty Detwiler.
Marty has been painting with watercolors for eighteen years. She enjoys the unpredictability and translucency of watercolor pigments as they inspire creativity with a multitude of effects. In her more recent works, Marty has experimented with the use of gesso applied to the watercolor paper before painting. The subject matter of pastural scenes with farm animals are always a favorite for her paintings. "I grew up a city girl but often visited a friends' family farm. I always enjoyed seeing the animals and the open spaces of the land. I find it a peaceful place so I think that is why I am drawn to animals and farms for inspiration in my art."
