“Inspiration move me brightly. Light the song with sense and color”. Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter
When Mary’s heart called her home to Chapel Hill, she sought a place of proven integrity and found herself standing in the same building her mother sold real estate from in the 1970s. Her dream: to find a firm that felt like home, an inclusive, caring group of agents who work in unison for the greater good of their clients, the community and the environment that supports our life here: Weaver Street Realty.
Born on Guam then by way of New Orleans, Mary Shell arrived in Chapel Hill in 1968. An avid equestrian, Mary’s childhood was spent at the horse barn, but she also spent time assisting her mother showing houses and working the front desk at her Mother’s partnership real estate firm. Her line of European warmblood horses can be found in the top ranks of the horse show world, and she feels the same kind of enthusiasm for her real estate clients.
Mary’s past experience includes managing a CPA firm for 18 years, an IT position at Microsoft, building a horse breeding facility and program, investing, consulting and selling real estate and raising two AMAZING daughters through USTA tennis and college. She has volunteered for the American Heart Association, Service League, The Arts Council and the Humane Society and a number of personal charities.
Mary serves a full range of clients across the state of North Carolina, from first time home buyers to listing and selling luxury homes, farms, land, investments and, her personal specialty -equestrian properties. She fully enjoys the process of an idea or concept becoming a home, an asset or investment, and loves to assist clients beyond the transaction.
“I consider the financial impact, future implications and a client’s true wants and needs, as all play into making wise choices in real estate.”
Outside of business you will find Mary enjoying the outdoors, in a barn, on a travel adventure or dancing to live music.
