Melissa Weiss

My road to real estate is quite a long and windy one. I grew up in a small town in Ohio, attended Kent State University, and after finishing my Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts, I moved to Moscow, Russia to teach English. From there, I traveled on to Prague and Bratislava, working a number of jobs and "finding myself." After my time abroad, I came back to the states to work on a Masters degree in Intercultural and International Management at the School for International Management in Brattleboro Vermont. My time in Vermont brought out my passion for social justice, so when I moved to Chapel Hill in 1997, I worked in the non-profit field on issues such as campaign finance reform and voting rights.

I started my own non-profit organization, Safe Schools NC, in 2003, working endless hours on finding ways to end bullying in NC schools. Safe Schools NC was always a labor of love- it consumed all of my time but didn’t pay the bills, so when I became pregnant with my son, Lennon, I decided to give it up. I had a second son, Dylan, and found myself committed to finding a career that would allow me the flexibility to be with my sons, yet still give me the chance to do good work with good people.

Real estate has proven to be a wonderful fit for me. I really enjoy the process of helping people with some of the biggest decisions of their lives, whether they are buying or selling a home or looking for a good investment. I bring to this field a passion for service and a dedication to being the best agent I can be. I look forward to working with you.
